Sunset Hill sits on the side of a hill overlooking the town of Tamarindo and the Pacific Ocean. There are several ways a visitor can reach Tamarindo and the Villa.
LACSA flies from New York, Miami, New Orleans, Los Angles, and San Francisco to the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose. American, Continental, and Delta also flies to San Jose. Delta also flies into Liberia, the
closest international airport to Tamarindo hotels.
If your flying into San Jose, the capital, you can either rent a car and drive or fly directly from San Jose to the Tamarindo Airport. Once at the Tamarindo airport the town and Villa is a short 2 mile drive by
cab. If you decide to drive from San Jose, local car rentals will provide a four wheel drive SUV with plenty of room for luggage or surfboards. Rates are similar to the US and your passport and a valid driver's license is all you need. Be sure
to examine the vehicle and note any nicks or dents before leaving the lot.
The road to Tamarindo beach is for much of the way, a two lane winding road through the mountains and then down along the coast to Tamarindo. The travel time is about four hours. This road is the Pan American
Highway and the main route for all truck traffic between Mexico and South America. Patience is a virtue.
The second major airport is at Liberia. This has just recently become a stop for some major airlines. From there a cab or bus will take you to downtown Tamarindo. Liberia flights are somewhat limited, but expected
to multiply in the near future as the competition increases.
Once in Tamarindo, proceed down the main street to the Century 21 office where you can obtain the Villa key and local directions. Within five minutes of getting the key you will be in your Villa and your Tamarindo
beach escape will have begun.
